Product Overview
TrekReel is a macOS 3D route-storytelling app. Import a GPX, KML or KMZ track, watch the route appear on real satellite imagery and terrain, design the camera like you would build a slide deck, and export the result as a video.
It is made for hiking, cycling, running and travel creators. You do not need video-editing skills: set a few keyframes along the route and TrekReel generates the smooth, cinematic camera movement between them.
Map data comes from open public sources (Sentinel-2 imagery, AWS terrain tiles, OpenStreetMap roads). Select a region once, download it to your Mac, and use it offline afterwards. Track files, projects and exported videos stay on your computer.

Clear data sources
Imagery, terrain and roads come from open public data, credited in the app and on the website with their licenses. Each data type has backup servers and TrekReel switches automatically when one fails.
Your files stay on your Mac
No account system, no ads, no third-party analytics. Tracks and projects are processed locally; the app only contacts public map services when it downloads map data.

Import and region download
Supports GPX, KML and KMZ. You can also draw a rectangle or circle on the map to download satellite imagery, terrain, roads and points of interest for offline use.
Keyframe camera
Place keyframes along the route to control camera angle, zoom and tilt, then preview the animation before exporting.
Annotations and layers
Annotate the story with lines, polygons and markers, and toggle imagery, roads, points of interest, GPS data and your asset library in Layer Manager.
Export
Export 720p to 4K video, HD images, 2D route maps, or STL / OBJ models for 3D printing. Save a project file to keep editing later.
Design Principles
Only credited open data
Default sources are free open data that allow commercial use. TrekReel does not bundle imagery with unclear licensing; custom sources are the user's responsibility.
Plan for failure
Public servers can be busy or rate-limited. TrekReel retries and switches to fallback servers, and shows missing data on the region card so you can retry later.
Publishing is part of engineering
Privacy notes, the support page, data-source checks and store metadata are reviewed together for each release so the pages match the app's behavior.
